Hey everyone!

My current gig might be wrapping up soon, so itโ€™s time for me to figure out whatโ€™s next.

If you or someone you know could use some help with software tools or systems โ€” architecture, implementation, deployment, operations, data pipelines, CD, DX, etc โ€”ย maybe get in touch? Iโ€™ve been doing this a while and Iโ€™m pretty flexible.

Iโ€™m open to short-term or long-term, part-time or full-time. Iโ€™m US-based (NYC area) and a US citizen.

Thanks in advance!

@nikitonsky Zed just went FLOSS and todayโ€™s preview release adds support for Clojure LSP so Iโ€™m trying it out.

I noticed that I find the text rendering more pleasant than Sublime Text, which Iโ€™ve been using recently with your REPL package (thx!).

Iโ€™m no text/font expert though, so Iโ€™m not sure whatโ€™s different exactly or why I prefer the text in Zed.

I think I see two main differences: the text seems a bit lighter in terms of weight, and the line spacing seems more generous, so thereโ€™s more breathing room. But I could definitely be mistaken or missing something.

Can you tell whatโ€™s happening here? And do you know if itโ€™d be possible to get my Sublime setup to match what Zed is doing?

Snow day!

ฮฒ22 is now available! You can finally push/pull branches from within Retconโ€”but not without a couple of twists.

First: pull whenever. Even with changes in your workdir; even in the middle of a conflict resolution. (maybe missing upstream commits are causing the conflict?)

Second, and much cooler: Easily, safely undo a branch push. Just hit โŒ˜Z, and that typo never happened. Nothing to it!

Wow. Paris just voted to triple the parking costs for SUVs.

A huge victory in the fight against car bloat.

We drove about 5000 miles in our Tesla last year and the total electrical (1413 kW) cost for us was less than $100. For the entire year. Incredible.

Coming soon to a website near you. โ€œHow My Apple Vision Pro Became My Primary Computerโ€. The harrowing tale of a dude who bought the latest Apple device and now just won't stop talking about it. From the minds that brought you โ€œHow My iPad Pro Became My Primary Computer" and โ€œWhat's a Computer?โ€. Rated R for aRRRgh not again.

Hoboken, NJ has gone seven consecutive years without a traffic fatality. They've also seen a significant reduction in injuries, with significant injuries down 62% between 2022 and 2023. This has been achieved largely by lowering speed limits and redesigning streets.

โ€œI'm not trying to accuse you, you know. That's not the point.
But you have a lot to face. ... All that can save you now is your confrontation with your own history... which is not your past, but your present. Nobody cares what happened in the past. One can't afford to care what happened in the past. But your history has led you to this moment, and you can only begin to change yourself and save yourself by looking at what you are doing in the name of your history.โ€

Open source AI is the hottest of hot topics -- with a recent IEEE Spectrum op-ed calling it "uniquely dangerous" -- but what is it, exactly? Today on @oxidecomputer and Friends @ahl and I will be joined by @simon, one of the leading practitioners in showing what open source LLMs can (and can't!) do.
