I ordered the new RadWagon 5 electric cargo bike!
A few years ago I had the RadWagon 4 for ~1ยฝ years but I ultimately sold it as I wasnโt satisfied with it. It was good but (for me) not great.
The new one seems like a massive upgrade and a great value, and it seems to have addressed all my dissatisfactions with the prior version:
* mechanical brakes โ hydraulic brakes
* top speed 20 mph โ 28 mph
* cadence sensor โ torque sensor
* solid fork โ suspension fork
* incompatible with frame locks โ frame lock now available
Plus:
* brake light and turn signals
* battery: 672 watt-hours โ 720 watt-hours
* UL-2849 & UL-2271certified battery & electrical components
* IPX6 water resistance
* thru axle
* max payload: 350 lb โ 375 lb
* claimed lower center of gravity
* total length: 200cm โ 192cm
* standover height: 60cm โ 53.3cm
* USB-A port โ USB-C port
* tires rare 22" size โ common 20" size
* unlock via NFC tag
Downgrades that I can see:
* weight sans battery: 69 lbs โ 75.6 lbs ๐ฌ
* (the battery is heavier too but itโs a higher capacity so thatโs OK)
* handlebars adjustable for height โ fixed-height
They say it should arrive mid-April so hopefully Iโll be shuttling my kid around town this spring+summer via bike again!
