The Mustard Plug is the band I wished Mighty Mighty Bosstones could be*. I heard their insane/amazing/perfect cover of The Freshman on late-night radio in #ColumbusOhio in the late #90s on our excellent (now dead) radio station #CD101. Every once in a while I just dial up a Mustard Plug song and wish I was at a concert in the 90s banging my head with the actual #ska fans.

One of the greatest #powerpop albums of the #90s if not all time.
This is one of my Desert Island Discs, and not even Ken Stringfellow’s horrible atrocious behaviour can effect my love for it. There is not one musical misstep, not a single flaw to be found anywhere.
Auer and Stringfellow never reached these heights again. Just one of those lightning in a bottle type albums, but what a bolt it was.

I’d been after a #vinyl copy of this album for a very long time, but I was never going to pay $200 for an original pressing of it.
So happy somebody finally reissued this great album; a bit of a lost gem of the #90s #shoegaze thing, and one of the best albums to ever come out of my hometown of Boston.
If you like the genre, and don’t know this album, I strongly recommend it.
