My first crash in a long time. I'm OK & the bike is OK. Moderate speed in a dark parking lot. Didn't see the parking stop on end + target fixation on a ramp. My front wheel stopped & I Supermanned over the handlebars. 10 minutes of damage assessment & cleaning up the yard sale & I rode the last 0.6mi/1km to work. Thank goodness for showers & a well stocked first aid station. Currently floating on 400mg of ibuprofen & feeling lucky it wasn't worse.
@rekiwi
Ugh. You're going to really feel it on day 3. Hopefully you didn't overlook any injury, and I hope your bike's ok too
@rekiwi I feel for you. That sounds a significantly upsetting event.
I narrowly avoided a collision on Sunday morning, at the cost of embedding one side of my handbars in my right thigh. The bruise is spectacular.
I hope you heal rapidly.
@rekiwi Yikes! I’m behind in my feed and just seeing this. Hope no sneaky injuries have made themselves known in the meantime, and 🤞 the bike is ok. A couple of my former co-workers used to bike commute and had pretty rough crashes, so I’m glad it wasn’t worse for you!
@crazybutable Thank you! Me too. 😁
@leighelse Thank you! And sorry about your bruise. I'm sure all the weird bruises and abused bits will make themselves known over the next couple of days. In the meantime, I'm taking it easy and popping those ibuprofen.
@feorlen Yep. Not looking forward to day 2 & 3 though. Already found a few sneaky bruises. Crossing my fingers on the bike until I can give it a thorough going over on a stand. Still, I'm happy nothing ended up bending the wrong way or extra ways on me or the bike.
@anthonyfloyd Yup. Already found a few "extra" bruises. Not looking forward to that day #3. Consoling myself with that sweet ibuprofen, confirming full mobility, and walking around the office without a limp. Crossing my fingers on the bike until I can get it on a stand and give a good going over.
@sarah11918 Thank you! Oddly enough, my "rest & relaxation" is work right now. Lots of cool stuff to keep me distracted. 😃
