Drove about 612 miles today, in our #Rivian R1T. The charging infrastructure has vastly improved since we did this exact same route just one year ago! Last time it was nothing but Electrify America chargers at Walmarts, mostly a ways off the highway (after an initial stop at the Rivian Adventure Network charger in Breezewood). Because we had to do so much extra driving to get to those chargers, it took four charge stops total.
Today we did it with only three stops, starting with the same RAN charger in Pennsylvania, then a Tesla Supercharger in West Virginia, and an EVgo charger in Ohio. Our shortest stop was 20 minutes, and our longest was 40, which was also when we ate lunch. It might technically be a bit slower than pumping gas, but it gave us time to walk the dog, use the bathroom, and decompress a bit before another couple hours of driving.
Overall, I honestly prefer road tripping in an EV. They’re simply more pleasant to drive, and charge stops let you unwind.
