I am an amateur #writer and #photography is immensely interesting to me, and I deeply enjoy wandering, then finding beautiful, strange, and interesting things to capture.
I wouldn't mind being #professional though, so I have an idea I want to try-

5 years ago, I realised that my #academic travels were emitting way too much #greenhouse #gas #GHG (up to 20 t #CO2 / yr) and hence that my #professional activity was not #sustainable. I thus decided to completely ban air #travel (#plane) and travel mainly by #train within #Europe.
5 years later (i.e. now), my professional travels' #carbonfootprint dropped by **a factor 50**, without impacting my #publication records (compared to 2017 - 2019).

I thought it might be a good idea to give an #introduction here.
As I'm still working in a mining area, and the only network I have access to is via our employer's WIFI network, there is a firewall that blocks a lot of websites. Because of this, I might as well give Mastodon a go, and I find #fediverse to be quite unique, as the idea of #mastodon is not centralised.
I am picking up some programming skills, and currently I am learning SQL. But I'm not going to talk about #career or #professional with this account, because that kind of content is not relevant to this server.
I'll be staying in Far North Queensland this year. Feel free to reach me out, or you can follow my other Mastodon account, which is mostly related to #tech.
