👋 Hi, I'm Rafe, though I prefer my high school nickname, Ratt. I'm a proud #dad of two not-so-little-anymore dudes and still married to my high school girlfriend (21 years together this year 🤯).
A lot of my toots are just little personal updates, documenting my journey as I stumble through life, trying to figure out #fatherhood even 13+ years in, and living with #anxiety, #ImposterSyndrome, and recently-diagnosed #ADHD. I also toot quite a bit about #DnD (currently #DM'ing a #5e campaign that started as a #oneShot and is now well into it's second year), #StarTrek when there's new episodes, #PowerMetal (fave bands are #Alestorm, #BeastInBlack, #Gloryhammer, & #WindRose), and any #tech stuff that catches my eye.
Speaking of tech stuff, I'm an #Apple user but not a hater. #macOS is great, but so is #Windows and #Linux. Same goes for #iOS vs #Android. Each have their strengths and weaknesses so it really just comes down to your individual use case and preferences. In other words: you do you, boo.
Continuing down that vein and into my professional life, I work in #IT but am still relatively new to that world, with my background being in automotive, construction, and retail. I got my #CompTIA #APlus and #Apple #ACiT certs, though I slacked and my A+ has dropped off. Currently learning #PowerShell and trying to work up time & motivation to get #NetworkPlus certified, all while trying to find some more hobbies away from backlit rectangles.
Speaking of hobbies, I occasionally do some #miniaturePainting and have goals to get into #ghostHunting (though I don't personally believe in #ghosts, it just sounds fun), #retroComputing, and #3DPrinting.
Plus, there are plans in the works to potentially start a #TTRPG #ActualPlay #podcast with some of my friends that will hopefully get off the ground this year.
In the warmer months here in North America, I also toot about #camping, #hiking, and #roadTrip #adventures.
Finally, it is an #election year here in the #USA so, while I generally avoid it, I may toot *occasionally* about #politics but will always put it behind a #ContentWarning. If the views of a #moderate #Democrat are interesting to you, follow away for it. Since there has been a huge influx of new users, I decided to write a new #Introduction and actually pin it to my profile.
I'm pushing 50 years old and I live in a Red State that is trying to make me illegal. I'm a #pansexual / #bisexual #transgender woman married to a heterosexual cisgender woman who frequently talks about the current hellscape for people like me in my Toots.
I'm #NeuroDivergent / #ND which is probably why all of these sentences start with "I".
I've worked in #InfoSec for a little over 20 years. I've had lots of roles in #SecEng, #SecOps, and #ThreatManagement. I taught myself #Perl, #Bash, #SQL, and #PowerShell. I'm decent at #JavaScript. I can read #Python and #Ruby. I enjoy automating things and turning manual processes into scripts.
I've been the primary #CareGiver to my wife for 8 years since she developed a chronic condition and went on disability.

I am not a fan of mindless slashers, unrelenting gore, or torture porn. Over-the-top, egregious gore that crosses into the absurd is fine, though, so I am a Sam Raimi fan, obvs. Also, #HorrorComedies are underappreciated.
I'm slowly reconnecting with my #Pagan roots. I knew some stuff about #Tarot and had a friend who as a tree a lifetime ago and I'm trying to rekindle that.
