A study from the Berlin Senate showed that highway lights have no measurable influence on collision statistics. Belgium also turned off a huge fraction of its highway lighting two years ago without incident.

Observations at Mt. Stromlo, Australia, find a measurable decrease in night sky brightness attributed to dimming of streetlights in Canberra. "[F]or every 10 per cent the lights are dimmed, it's about a 5 per cent change in the glow of the sky."

I'm very pleased to share the news that an International Union for the Conservation of Nature guidelines document seven years in the making is now published.
"The world at night : preserving natural darkness for heritage conservation and night sky appreciation" is a collection of dark-sky best management practices in parks and protected areas drawn from years of experience.

In short, I work at the Mont-Megantic International Dark Sky Reserve fighting #lightpollution to protect the dark skies and nighttime environment.
While I studied #molecularbiology, I've spent most of the last 2 decades at the Mont-Mégantic ASTROLab/ Nat'l Park doing science/astronomy outreach, before going full-time against light pollution.
And, I'm often outdoor #trailrunning, doing #splitboard, #bike or #photography -> remiboucherphoto.com :)
