Did some thinking in the shower, and a thought came to me. I don't think the creator of this universe actually wants to be worshipped.

Think about it. No precision lightning bolts on unbelievers. No angels. No nothing. We can't even prove that there *is* a creator, and only some of us believe in one.

This is a *very* low-key, plausible-deniability kind of god. A #god demanding worship would not hide like this.

Who would? A god that wishes us to be free to find our own way in life.

Funny how none of the 4500+ gods recorded in human history ever introduce themselves. People only ever know of the concept of a god from other human beings. Sure, we are story-telling primates and we invent gods to fill the gaps in our scientific knowledge (yes, even banging rocks together is science if it's repeatable), but most children are taught about (and to fear) a regional god by other humans. The god never shows up.

In today's epistle, #Paul to the Church at Ephesus makes incredible claims about people who have faith in #Christ: "Blessed be the #God and Father of our Lord #Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places". This to a tiny, persecuted minority, who were to be witnesses to peace and love in a Roman #Empire built on fear and #violence. Utterly nuts, but utterly hopeful, too!

Hi, I'm [redacted], and I decided to join kolektiva dot social when my previous instance admin went on a rant about "outrage culture," said he didn't care, then played the victim when people rightfully called him out on it. As the famous quote goes, "If you're not outraged, you're not paying attention." I prefer to keep most of my personal details private, but here are the things about me I choose to reveal for my #introduction:
- I am #queer in many senses of the word.
- In my free time I enjoy playing #VideoGames and #travel (and learning new #languages). I also like to #camp, #hike, #backpack, and #ReadBooks. I'm also a #tech worker but I vacillate between loving/hating that. 😅
- I believe organizations and societies function best when there are guiding principles but no rigid structure; I believe in a non-religious #God (of course others are entitled to their own beliefs) and believe people are generally born "good" but also recognize that humans have created hell on earth vis a vis various methods of economics/government. Thus far in history, methods of social control only end up serving the ruling class and oppressing minorities.
- I only have a few close friends and people generally disappoint me. Prove me wrong! 😉
