Here's a fun multi-shader: Ink Institute Meander Electric Blue Spider Lily. It's a bit light on the page for small nibs but I'll have to try it in a stub like a TWSBI or a flex nib pen and see what happens. You can really see the multi-shading between blue and pink in some of the letters that had more ink after dipping the pen. I'll almost certainly need to get a full bottle of this one, even if it is a bit more pastel than I prefer.

I was expecting it to be a bit more orange in person but I really like it and it might wind up in my red Metropolitan eventually because of the colour match. I'm perhaps a bit inordinately fond of red ink thanks to my history as an editor and teaching assistant. 😅

I used #fountainpens in my work and as a consequence stopped loving them. I fell in love again a few years ago and now write (and draw) with them for pleasure. I can spend hours in secondhand book and record shops and in general prefer an analogue life to a digital one. However, I’m not a zealot about it.

Ink sample swatch from yesterday: Inkebana Cowslip
I picked this up because I wanted some yellow to draw stars that would go with this month's stickers and the only yellow ink I have is yellow-green. This is the perfect yellow with a hint of orange. It's even more legible than I expected in the dip pen. I was planning this just for decoration doodling in a fine nib, but I might try it in a bigger nib for writing too.

The Asvine C2000 finally arrived and it's a beaut! I ordered the "Red" variety but as shown it's more heavy toward blue on the mix which is even better for me.
The 1.1 stub writes well, puts down a nice line with good variation as expected. Nice flow, no problem keeping up with a heavy sheening ink. I inked it with Endless Alchemy Candy Sea, to fit the blue+red color combination and because I didn't have it in any other pens currently.

Swatched a new ink sample today and realized I hadn't posted the one I did last week so you get two photos.
Today's ink: Colorverse Gyeongnyealbi-yeoldo - pretty light green-grey. I love this color and it was great on the rhodia and clairfontaine papers pictured. Not so great on the coated iroful paper with the dip pen: it pooled and took a long time to dry. I probably won't bother putting it into a pen until I switch notebooks, but I'm excited to use it probably later in the year.
Last week's ink: Octopus Sheening Mermaid. Tealish blue with pink when. This is kind of halfway between the Diamine Vibe and Cosmic Glow from inkvent, but it's less sheeny. Worked well on all fountain pen friendly papers I tried. My intention is that when I finish the cartridge in my blue koi Preppy that this will become a ludicrous todo list and calendar ink to encourage me to write things down just for the joy of fancy ink. This trick works pretty well for me!

I had forgotten just how magical this ink was. There is so much shimmer and it looks so gold, yet the ink still flows well. It's bonkers. Pelikan's first shimmer ink and they knocked it out of the park.

Unsurprisingly, it's slow to dry. But I managed to get it all over my hands because I put a label on the bottle and put a blob of ink on it, it out was decidedly not dry when I went to shake the bottle later. First time I've had that problem!
