Do you have a structured system for keeping track of your setups? Are you a meticulous curator of computer configurations? A dotfile dilettante? A network note-taker?

I'm looking for sustainable, open-source-friendly ways to document and templatize system and network setups. I really am only interested in something easy to maintain, not tied to a specific proprietary tool, and useful for both tracking infrastructure state and making changes over time.

The experiences of workers cast doubt on such claims. I spoke to William Knight, a 10-year veteran of the grocery industry who spends their off hours crafting cyberpunk stories inspired by the novel Neuromancer. (Knight’s latest is a dystopian tale about an America ruled by just three corporations.) On the job, the 31-year-old has often found themselves on the other side of the crisis that Bagley described. Working as a cashier and maintenance person in a Utah chain, Knight was regularly conscripted to work in e-commerce, which put them behind on their official duties. “I’m not necessarily against [automation], but a new technology should be regulated. It’s too young to be pushed to everyone and should stay in Silicon Valley,” they said."

I don’t have an extra hard drive, so I need to back up to #GoogleDrive. I’ve installed #Rclone and tried creating a #BASH script, but I’m struggling with it.

There's something really cathartic about watching a database restore take place with no errors 😌

I really need to automate a process of spinning up an instance, running restore from a recent dump, making sure it runs smoothly, and destroying the instance.
