@juergen_hubert I'm curious why you dismiss Zionism altogether. I consider myself to be a typical diasporic Jew. I loathe Netanyahu. His actions have endangered Jews worldwide. The West Bank settlers are racists & their settlements illegal. But I also believe Jews have a right to a home in their ancestral land (precise boundaries to be determined). Antisemitism is alive and well, as the response to Jewish national aspirations since Israel's founding pretty clearly shows.
Who says I am dismissing it?
The notion that Jews want a homeland of their own where they are not dependent on anyone else for their security is very understandable.
@juergen_hubert I was responding to your comment, " then we must understand the primary fear that drive so many Israeli Jews to support #Zionism." Labor's new leader Yair Golan would call himself a "Zionist" but he doesn't resemble Netanyahu in the least. Being a Zionist doesn't mean you don't understand or support Palestinian national aspirations. You can be a fervent believer in a two-state solution and still be a Zionist. It's the Israeli right's eliminationist stance that is so disturbing.
