Plus carrots as thick as my wrist at the Asian market, perfect for tender slabs of carrot in my Japanese curry (karē raisu). So tired of the thin, weedy things Kroger sells.
@crazybutable My favorite version of Japanese curry features large hunks of carrot cooked velvety tender. Very toothy & satisfying. I can't get that from regular supermarket carrots, which tend to cook to mush. The massive carrots also work so much better for julienning on my mandoline. Regular carrots get about 2 swipes and they're done.
@rekiwi huh I have been optimizing my carrot purchases for eating raw and haven’t been thinking about large carrots as being desirable for anything
@crazybutable Oh yeah, eating one of these absolute unit carrots raw would be uncomfortable and maybe a little NSFW.
