You tell 'em, Supes 🦸🦸‍♂️🦸‍♀️
@codinghorror Now get an example of when he beats up Nazis, or takes down the KKK :-)
@codinghorror
From back in the days when an undocumented immigrant could be a role model for American youth.
The 1950s are usually considered to be an era of rightwing values, but this sentiment was all over pop culture in the postwar 1940s/1950s.
The Saint radio show used to end each episode with its star, Vincent Price, exhorting listeners to reject any “lunatic fringe” that preached discrimination.
And then there’s Frankie:

@codinghorror At some point, if they haven't already, the right wingers are going to denigrate Superman because he was invented by Jews
@codinghorror Examining this superman talking to the kids picture makes me think these thoughts. So, he *is* looking straight in the face of the only woman who's the only one who's face (voice representation) is hidden from view. And though he looks at her and says boys and girls the text below only mentions someone being targeted because of *his* (stuff) and bonus level you must tell *him*, ya know the one being prejudiced against, tell *him* that kind of thing is un-american. So kind of like if you are in public near a marginalized person and some Nazi Fascist Fuck calls them a slur you should turn your face away from the NFF and towards the marginalized one and make sure *they* are *aware* that *you* think that other guy is not being cool and you don't support that. Fuck that, I am not an advocate of violence as a solution to problems, but seriously I'm flawed and human and feel that is when I *would/should/could* just smash a handy heavy object against a head.
@Technogourmet for beating up nazis, see Captain America (easy), for taking down the KKK see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stetson_Kennedy
@Technogourmet @codinghorror
Like this one?
@Stevenheywood @codinghorror Hell Yeah! Now that's what I'm talking about. Might be nice if more old anti-fascist art could resurface all over socialmedia. <sigh> Thanks.
@Stevenheywood @codinghorror Gotta say though. Not a fan of the racism. That's a challenge with WWII, or for that matter WWI as well, era Propoganda. Hmmm, spiders in my mind are reporting from numerous webs that this is the norm for all US Propoganda always, because racism is embedded so deep in US culture.
@Technogourmet @codinghorror
The depiction of Chinese and Japanese people those days is downright embarrassing.
@Stevenheywood @codinghorror I have some old Dr. Suess Books. Most of the ones he wrote actually, and I love them dearly but sometimes one or two will make me cringe hard.
@Technogourmet @Stevenheywood yeah that guy had some .. oddities.. let's say
@Technogourmet @codinghorror
We could do with more from the JSA.
@codinghorror Exactly what I was referencing. Great.
@Technogourmet "be the enemy within"
